Deadline extended for European Healthcare Design Awards
We are delighted to announce that the deadline for submissions to the European Healthcare Design Awards 2026 has been extended to 18 March.
Submissions are open across 14 categories, recognising projects that demonstrate excellence in healthcare planning, design and delivery, and that support health and wellbeing, quality improvement, accessibility, sustainability and equity.
Organised by SALUS and Architects for Health, the Awards celebrate and recognise professional and research excellence in the design of healthcare environments both in Europe and around the world.

This year, the Awards programme has been expanded with five new categories, reflecting the evolving scale, complexity and ambition of healthcare environments. These categories are:
- NEW for 2026: Excellence in healthcare planning
- NEW for 2026: Digital and technology transformation – supported by Austco Healthcare
- NEW for 2026: Design for neighbourhood health
- NEW for 2026: Innovation in healthcare construction technologies
- NEW for 2026: Healthcare interiors product
In addition, there are nine regular categories in which there is still time to enter:
- Design for health and life sciences – supported by HDR
- Design for sustainable development
- Design for large-scale healthcare infrastructure – supported by Guldmann
- Design for small to medium-scale healthcare Infrastructure
- Future healthcare design (unbuilt projects) – supported by Integrated Health Projects
- Mental health design – supported by Gerflor – Gradus
- Design for adaptation and transformation
- Interior design and the arts
- Healthcare design research – supported by Medical Architecture
Winners will be announced during the final session on 16 June at the QEII Centre in Westminster, followed by a Garden Party in the College Gardens of Westminster Abbey.
